Bluebook is College Board's digital testing application, used by students to take the SAT, PSAT-related assessments, and AP Exams. Together with Test Day Toolkit for proctors, it is designed to make test day easier for students and the educators who support them.
Every Bluebook exam is configured to work for students who test with accommodations or assistive technology. The app supports leading screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS, Apple VoiceOver, ChromeVox, and Windows Narrator, along with a built-in text-to-speech tool for students approved for a reading accommodation. Students can answer questions using speech-to-text tools such as Dragon, Apple Voice Control, and Windows Voice Recognition, and refreshable braille displays can access text content, with alternative text provided for all graphics.
Moving to digital testing also changes how some accommodations work. A student approved for a human reader can use a screen reader instead, and a student approved for large print can use zoom. Tools available to every student, including a line reader, answer eliminator, highlights and notes, and a built-in Desmos calculator, help all test takers focus and work in the way that suits them.
Because students can try Bluebook with their own assistive technology through test previews and full-length practice tests, they can arrive on test day already confident their setup will work. For one of the most important moments in a student's education, Bluebook shows how high-stakes testing can be accessible at very large scale.
